J.R. learned by the school of hard knocks, and has worked hard to live the American Dream. What is living the American Dream? The right to work hard and prosper. J.R. is the perfect example of the average American.
J.R. was raised with a Step-Father who was in the military. His family did not have a lot of money, so at an early age he learned the importance of self-reliance and hard work. At the age of eight he began a paper route, which taught him the value of working hard and saving for the future. Since his family did not have the money to send him to college, J.R. took on several jobs in order to pay for his University studies. J.R. had no loans, no grants, no scholarships, no financial aide, just hard work.
Though it was a long, tedious journey, J.R. felt it was an honor and a privilege to have studied at Harvard Law, Columbia University, Pepperdine University, Indiana University, University of Houston, University of Missouri at Kansas City. J.R. used his education to open doors, but it was because of his hard work that J.R. was able to go on and build several successful companies.
His thirst for knowledge has stayed with him his entire life, and after J.R. started making money J.R. took every course he could find to help him improve himself. This was a benefit not only to him, but also to his businesses, which in turn aided the economy by allowing J.R. to hire more employees. Again, hard work and education helped him to grow his companies.
In 2008 INC 5000 listed one of the companies that he built to go on to be ranked as the 3118th Fastest Growing Companies.
